Principal's Welcome

Dear Stony Brook Families, 
 
On behalf of all of our staff members, welcome to Stony Brook Elementary. I am excited to serve as your new principal and look forward to working with you and your children to continue to grow our wonderful community. Although I am new to Stony Brook, I am not new to Central York. I joined Central in 2014 as the assistant principal at Roundtown Elementary and most recently served as the principal at Central York Middle School. I would also like to welcome Mr. Chad Riddle as your new assistant principal. Mr. Riddle is joining us from Roundtown Elementary where he served as a kindergarten teacher. We are both looking forward to starting this new chapter with you. 
 
Stony Brook is home to over 500 of our youngest Panthers. Starting primary school is the beginning of an amazing journey. At Stony Brook, it is our pleasure to walk alongside you and your child during their earliest school years. We strive to create a community that is welcoming, supportive, and provides every child with a sense of belonging. 
 
I urge you to take an active role in your child’s educational journey. You are your child’s first teacher. I encourage you to talk with your child about his/her school day, read with your child daily, and create consistent routines that will set your child up for a successful day at school (check backpacks each evening, have an early bedtime on school nights, set an alarm to get up in the mornings, regularly review appropriate school behavior, etc.). I invite you to contact your child’s teacher or other school staff should you have any questions or concerns about your child’s school experience.  It is important that we work together as a team to help your child have a successful start to his/her school journey.
