Stony Brook PTO Committees

The PTO at Stony Brook has a wide variety of committees and is sure to have one that is right for you!  All committees are always looking for additional support.  Please see the Committee Contacts page to find contact information in regards to all of the committees below.        

Book Fair - Help provide Scholastic books to students and their families. Volunteers are needed during the day and evening hours in the beginning of November. 

Community Outreach - Help give students the opportunity to donate items to different local charities during the school year. Volunteers are needed to collect and deliver the items. 

Council Delegate – One representative from Stony Brook attends 5 meetings/year with delegates from all schools in Central York School District.

Central Scholars - Each year, a scholarship is awarded to a CYHS senior who was a former Stony Brook student. Help is needed to review applications and complete student selections.


Family Involvement- Help coordinate volunteers and food items for special events at the school, such as Ice Cream Social, Family Nights, Stony Brook's Got Talent and other events.

Field Day - During school hours at the end of the school year students get to participate in outdoor games and activities. This event requires many volunteers to help run the activities.

Fundraisers – 
Help PTO earn money for our school by promoting Giant A+ Rewards, and other programs.  Help organize and run the “Dine Out” nights.

Gingerbread Shoppe - Help make low-cost gifts available for all of the children to have the 
opportunity to give gifts to members of their families. Volunteers are needed in December to set-up, shop with students, and tear down. Volunteers also needed throughout the year to shop.

Spring Fling – SB Administration and PTO coordinate this community event. Usually held in the spring, after school this fun event requires many volunteers to prepare, run the event and clean up.


Memory Book - Help create a memory book for all the students to enjoy. Throughout the year volunteers are needed to get sponsorships, take pictures, and assist with layouts.

Rewards - Help the PTO earn money for equipment at our school by promoting and collecting Box Tops for Education, Campbell Soup Labels, and Moo Kash for Kids.

Room Parent Coordinator- Help organize the room parents as well as plan the fun for Fall Festival.  Room parents organize classroom parties thrown for Fall Festival and Friendship Day.  Coordinates Friendship Day service project to be done in-part at each classroom party.

Staff Appreciation- This committee plans and executes Staff Appreciation Week in the Spring, as well as teacher dinners to be provided during parent-teacher conferences, among other programs.

Third Grade Event - Help say 'goodbye' to the third graders by coordinating this special event at the end of the year. Volunteers are needed to collect donations and run games throughout the

ROAR Fest- This fundraiser is at the beginning of the school year and is the main source of income for the PTO. It allows for all the special assemblies, classroom “extras,” 3rd Grade Event, year books, and more. 

Spirit Week- During a designated week in the Spring, we celebrate special days through reading, math, fun activities, etc. Every even year, a book exchange is done in conjunction with these activities. 

Assemblies- Organize, plan and execute fun and educational assemblies throughout the year for the students.

Fall Festival- Plan and coordinate activities, games, and volunteers throughout the school for all classes to participate in.
