New Family Welcome Guide

Welcome to Central York School District! This guide is designed to introduce you and your student(s) to the most important need-to-know items as a new family. Top 10 Things to Know for Central York Families
1. Skyward
Skyward is the District's Student Information System, and provides tools for students and families. Skyward contains essential information about school and students, such as attendance, grades, schedule, health information report cards, and family information. Along with that, Skyward is used as a key source of communications between the District and families, alerting about events, closures, and other news.

3. Food Services
Lunch and Breakfast menus are updated monthly on the District Website, and contain school specific details of food that will be served, prices, and other information. Money can be deposited into lunch accounts through the district page.
The free and reduced meal program is aimed to assist families provide meals for their students. By filling out the application, students can be eligible for free or reduced meals, and access supportive programs that can allow them to participate in co-curricular activities regardless of financial situations.

4. Attendance Information

Parents/guardians should use the Skyward Family Access Center to enter attendance/absence information for students. This is web-based and available 24 hours a day. Note: Please do not use this to enter early dismissal requests or changes to after-school pick-up plans for students the day of the early dismissal or different after-school pick-up is requested.
If a student is absent and it is not reported, families will receive an automated notification phone call.
5. District Calendar
The District Calendar includes everything from school closings and the first and last days of school, as well as in-services and special events. It also includes activities and events specific to each of our buildings.
The calendar is updated and housed on our website. Families can add the calendar to their device using iCal feeds.

6. Communications

The Communications and Marketing Department serves as the voice of Central York School District, bridging the gap between our schools and the community we proudly serve.
Families can expect to receive regular updates from the District including a weekly District newsletter, weekly building newsletter from their child's school, and periodic updates as needed through Skyward.
Families are encouraged to keep their contact information up-to-date in Skyward, as the District utilizes that information to send emergency notifications in instances such as inclement weather.
7. Volunteer Information
Our volunteers play a vital role in our educational, athletic, and extra-curricular experiences throughout all parts of the year!
As a school district, we are required to obtain specific clearances and information from prospective volunteers to allow access to our schools.
Volunteers must register in our Volunteer Portal every school year, and ensure that all of their clearances are up-to-date.

8. Activities and Athletics

Whether in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, or in the community, our students remain "Proud to be a Panther" in everything that they do.
Students can choose from more than 20 interscholastic sports, award winning music and performing arts programs, various student-run clubs and organizations, as well as community opportunities during their time at Central York.
9. Safe2Say Tip Line
See it. Report It.
Students, families, and the community can report an anonymous tip at anytime through the Safe2Say Tip Line. Safe2Say's Crisis Center will collect the information, and within seconds, school administrators and safety officals are notified.
Tips can be submitted online, via the app, or by calling 1-844-723-2729.

10. Technology

Central York School District takes pride in being a leader in technology integration within our classrooms and schools. Our district equips each student with a dedicated device tailored to their learning needs. There are various resources available to assist parents and families with device information and care, as well as online safety resources.
